Kiev Academy Young Theatre is found in 1979 with the idea to become a creative laboratory for young artists. Since 1996 his artistic director is theatre-director Stanislav Moiseyev, who managed to establish his style of original modern reading of the classics from the beginning of his artistic career. Having staged over 50 texts, turns him into one of the most popular theatre directors in Ukraine. “Uncle Vanya” is one of his latest works and it is winner of the prestigious Ukrainian theatre award – “Kyiv Pectoral”.
“Perhaps this performance’s chief achievement lies in the fact that it makes us not just follow with interest the development of the plot among a beautiful scenery, wonderful mise-en-scene and enchanting soundtrack. In the people we see on the stage we mostly recognize ourselves – without the adorations of theatricality, without the glitter of the footlights – we contemplate our own souls... See, this is what you are and nothing can justify the reason why you have not become what you could be...”
